Giving talks from the shadow of Scotts Bluff National Monument to the top deck of a riverboat on the Missouri, Jeff is one of the most requested speakers available from Humanities Nebraska and the first and only to present in all 93 Nebraska counties! Even beyond the boundaries of his home state, Jeff has presented more than 800 times to audiences in nine states.
Drawing upon his newspaper-reporter past, Jeff is constantly digging to find the forgotten stories and fascinating images to make his talks memorable and requested again and again. Schedule Jeff today for your library, museum, community organization, or special event!
Jeff is a two-time winner of the Nebraska Book Award for his richly illustrated and historically detailed guides to Nebraska’s unique history and heritage.
Jeff has finished an updated edition of his first book, Forts of the Northern Plains, to be published in May 2024 by the University of Nebraska Press’s Bison Books imprint.
He is also the author of six other books of Great Plains history.
Traveling more than 25-thousand miles a year, Jeff is always pulled off the road by the beauty of the Plains and sometimes captures those images to share with friends.
(NOTE: Jeff also speaks before FOR-profit organizations!)
